Who are the Two Docs?

First of all - we are not the kind of docs you are probably thinking. And we are not sure who is the "first" doc. Kayme is a professional pianist with a DMA in piano performance and pedagogy. (See pianomommy.blogspot), Jim is a professor at Wisconsin Lutheran College with a PhD in microbial pathogenesis. We met many years ago at campus ministry events and eventually we got married one year into our respective doctoral programs. Kayme already had a love of travel (she spent the last month before our wedding in Italy), and when we spent our very short honeymoon hiking and sailing on the Apostle Island Lakeshore we were hooked on exploring together. Unfortunately, grad students don't usually have lots of money for travel. Neither do postdocs. And come to think of it, neither do professors. So, we had to learn how to explore while saving our dollars. Then we had to learn how to travel with babies.

That is what this blog is all about. We have been able to see some pretty cool stuff and have some awesome trips. We often think that travelling is for someday in the future when we have more money. When we have the house paid off. When we aren't tired from being parents. When the kids can pack their own stuff. We decided we didn't want to wait until someday. It can be done. And we are willing to share with you how we did it. And tell you about some of our failures so you can learn from those as well.
